Lunch Program
Due to an in-house lunch program begun in the 2007-2008 school year, Lutheran South Unity has seen dramatic rise of 83% in participation in the lunch program. Home-cooked meals are prepared by our lunch manager, Melanie Springer, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and transported daily to Lutheran South Unity. Participation in the school lunch program is well above the state average of 69%. On a "favorite" menu day, we reach as high as 92% participation. Children enjoy eating meals together on cafeteria tables purchased at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year. A breakfast program is also available. Free and reduced lunches are available through the Indiana Department of Education on a completely confidential basis. The Mount Calvary Church and Lutheran South Unity School locations are regularly inspected by the Allen County Board of Health to meet all State nutritional guidelines.
Extended Care Program
Lutheran South Unity School views children as precious gifts from God. All students are required to be under adult supervision before and after school hours; therefore, Lutheran South Unity School offers an Extended Care Program. The goal of the Extended Care Program is to provide a safe and caring environment for the children enrolled.
Our Extended Care Program is staffed by caring, Christian people who are usually parents of our students. They are committed to our school and want to offer the safest care possible for your child before and after school.
The Extended Care Program is available to students Kindergarten through Grade 8. This enables working parents or those with other occasional commitments to have supervision of their children in a safe environment.
