Biography:
Mrs. Mary Ann Oberholtzer, known to many as Mrs. O., grew up in Fort Wayne and attended Bethlehem Lutheran School. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and then taught in the Groveport-Madison Local School District for eight years. Upon her return to Fort Wayne, she taught for one year at Trinity Lutheran School and then at Bethlehem Lutheran School and Lutheran South Unity School.
Mrs. Oberholtzer and her husband, Tom, have been married for thirty years. They have three grown children: Jason, who lives in Indianapolis; Michael, who is in New York City; and Laura, who lives in Bloomington. All of the members of their family attended Lutheran grade school at Bethlehem.
Before becoming principal, Mrs. O. taught first and second grade and then spent the majority of her teaching career teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. She has done graduate work at Ohio State University in Guidance and Counseling and at Indiana University in Education.
The Oberholtzers are active members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mrs. O. has received training as a Stephen Minister and is a Prayer Leader and Lay Reader. She loves to read and to travel, especially to places with a beach. One of her favorite cities in the U.S. is New York City.
