Accreditation
Lutheran South Unity School is proud to be fully accredited by the state of Indiana and by the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA). Lutheran South Unity School complies with all state requirements for accreditation and our students participate in ISTEP+ testing yearly. LSUS believes accreditation to be an important part of our efforts to prove the quality of education we are providing to our students.
Principal Reports on NLSA Visit
As of May, 2011, we have accomplished a major task! I am very pleased to report that we have been recommended for FULL National Lutheran School Accreditation. Thank you to all those families that brought in food for the visit. Thank you for your prayers during the visit also. The team spent three days reading, looking, listening, talking, and writing. They had a very large task!
We were commended for the diversity within our school. This diversity is not only with ethnicity but also our church membership base. God has provided so many families with a focus on worshiping regularly at various churches. This accreditation is more comprehensive than what the state even requires.
We had no major deficiencies, but with any evaluation we have areas to work on. During the next five-year goals, we will work on these areas. The new principal, teachers, and board will have meetings on determining the priorities of the concerns to be remedied.
We had 14 strengths that the team emphasized. The list includes:
- Christ-centered ministry
- Our entire LSUS teachers and staff
- Cindy McKinney, curriculum coach
- Title 1 and Resource rooms
- Supportive pastors
- Supportive association with congregations and parents
- Our facilities: space, computer lab and the land that surrounds the school
- Our diverse student body
- Evangelism opportunities
- Technology used in classrooms and the building
- Our Board of Directors
- LSUS Educational Philosophy
- Our specials teachers
- Community partnerships
It’s quite a list! We have a ministry that is awesome.
