 Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a nationwide literature-based motivational reading program utilizing a computer program designed to measure a student's reading achievement. The Accelerated Reader program is an excellent tool for challenging students to continually increase the difficulty of books read and for encouraging greater amounts of reading.

Students read books from a list of pre-approved books, which have been carefully selected and rated with both a reading difficulty level based on grade levels and a point level. Students earn points by successfully taking a computer formatted test covering the content of story they just read. They must pass the tests by a score of 80% to receive points for the book read, and the A.R. program keeps a running record of each student's work and points accumulated. These reports are then distributed along with report cards at each reporting period.

An incentive program is set up for students who participate in the Accelerated Reading Program and rewards are given out both individually and as a class.
