Miss Mittelstaedt was born in Copley, Ohio and went to college at Concordia, Seward, NE, graduating in 1977. Her first call was to Immanuel Lutheran School in Wentzville, MO, where she taught Kindergarten, started the Preschool with a class of 4 year olds, and taught music to grades 1-8. She began work on her Masters degree at Concordia, Seward at this time, too. In 1984 she accepted a call to Grace, Arlington, TX, where she taught 3rd grade. Her dad died in 1994 so she wanted to get closer to home. She accepted the call to teach 4th grade at Unity in 1995. Susan has proven to be a flexible teacher in the primary and middle grades.
Susan belongs to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she sings in the choir, plays handbells, is a member of the Altar Guild, and serves on the Fellowship Team. She has one older sister, Linda, who now lives with her. They have cats but won't say how many. Susan enjoys reading, doing yard work, gardening, watching the birds, music, and baseball. She is a big Cleveland Indians fan and also volunteers at HOPE for Animals clinic and help foster kittens.
